Neuromodulators

Equipped with updated cosmetic equipment and treatment modalities, every aspect of Advanced Aesthetic Medicine has been curated to help provide our patients with maximum safety & efficiency at all times.

Neuromodulators

Neuromodulators such as “Botox” are one of the many cosmetic services that Dr. Grobman or your licensed and qualified provider offers their patients, giving them a refreshed, youthful appearance. Neuromodulators utilize Clostridium Botulinum toxin to diminish specific nerve activity within the muscles. Botox was the first neuromodulator publicly available and had over 16 years of published research in peer-reviewed scientific and medical journals.

BOTOX® COSMETIC

BOTOX® Cosmetic by Allergan is the most widely known neuromodulator on the market. As a safe, FDA-approved cosmetic treatment, BOTOX® Cosmetic by Allergan works by blocking the nerve impulses throughout targeted muscles, relaxing them, and allowing fine lines and wrinkles to become less prominent over time. This treatment is indicated for fine lines and wrinkles between the brows, forehead, and outer eyes. It is derived from the botulinum toxin A, a compound produced by the bacteria. When injected into the muscles, it blocks the signal release of the substance called acetylcholine. Acetylcholine is responsible for activating muscle activity, and when injected with BOTOX® Cosmetic by Allergan, it causes the muscles to become less active. This method diminishes the appearance of wrinkles caused by weakening muscle contractions and therefore improves facial appearance.

DYSPORT®

Dysport® by Galderma is another well-known neuromodulator treatment with some minor differences that make it a unique treatment option. Dysport® may have a slightly faster time of onset, which in turn produces faster results for improving fine lines and wrinkles. This is due to its smaller molecular size, which allows the toxin to spread quickly over a larger area, creating a more even distribution.

XEOMIN®

Unlike Botox and Dysport®, XEOMIN® only contains one ingredient, which is Incobotulinum Toxin Type A. XEOMIN® doesn’t contain any additives or preservatives, which is a desirable feature to some patients. This treatment option also works to diminish muscle contractions in targeted areas of the face and improve the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

All treatments listed above are FDA-approved and safe. Each treatment has an average duration of 3-4 months and retreatments are necessary to see long-term results. Rare side effects with neuromodulator treatments include headaches, bruising, or mild bleeding in injection areas. For more information, our provider will discuss with you which neuromodulator will best suit your goals.
